Hello and Welcome!

Please understand that this website is not affiliated with the Prince Matchabelli Company any way, it is only a reference page for collectors and those who have enjoyed the classic fragrances of days gone by.

The main objective of this website is to chronicle the history of the Prince Matchabelli fragrances and showcase the bottles and advertising used throughout the years.

However, one of the other goals of this website is to show the present owners of the Prince Matchabelli perfume company how much we miss the discontinued classics and hopefully, if they see that there is enough interest and demand, they will bring back these fragrances!

Please leave a comment below (for example: of why you liked the fragrance, describe the scent, time period or age you wore it, who gave it to you or what occasion, any specific memories, what it reminded you of, maybe a relative wore it, or you remembered seeing the bottle on their vanity table), who knows, perhaps someone from the current Prince Matchabelli brand might see it.

Also, this website is a labor of love, it is a work in progress and is always being updated with new information as I can find it, so check back often!

Wind Song Breezy by Prince Matchabelli c1976

Launched in 1976, Wind Song Breezy by Prince Matchabelli was designed to offer a refreshing twist on its predecessor, Wind Song. The name "Wind Song Breezy" evokes a sense of lightness and airiness, suggesting a fragrance that is as invigorating and effortless as a gentle breeze. The term "breezy" enhances the imagery of freshness and movement, conjuring thoughts of a soft, cool wind rustling through blooming gardens. This imagery aligns with the perfume's character, offering a fresh and green floral scent that is both invigorating and natural.

The choice of "Breezy" in the name reflects the evolving fragrance trends of the mid-1970s, a time when lighter, more ethereal scents began to gain popularity. This period saw a shift away from the heavy, opulent perfumes of the earlier decades towards fragrances that embodied a sense of freedom and modernity. Wind Song Breezy embraced this trend with its fresh green notes and light floral composition, offering a modern and youthful alternative to the more traditional scents of the era.

Women of the 1970s, who were increasingly drawn to scents that mirrored the changing social and cultural landscapes, would have appreciated Wind Song Breezy for its contemporary and natural feel. The fragrance's blend of romantic and fresh floral notes captured the spirit of the time, making it a fitting companion for a decade marked by a desire for simplicity and authenticity in personal expression.

Scent Profile:

Wind Song Breezy is a fresh green floral fragrance for women, offering a lively and invigorating scent experience.

From the moment you encounter the top notes, the fragrance opens with the crisp, zesty brightness of Calabrian bergamot and Italian lemon. The bergamot delivers a tangy, slightly floral citrus note that is both uplifting and refreshing. Complementing this citrus burst is the sweet, subtle nectar of honeysuckle, which adds a delicate, almost honeyed sweetness that enhances the freshness of the citrus and sets a cheerful tone.

As the fragrance evolves, the heart reveals a lush bouquet of floral notes. Lily of the valley introduces a green, dewy freshness, reminiscent of a spring morning. This is intertwined with the rich, velvety aroma of jasmine, which adds a sensual depth and warmth. Rose contributes a classic, romantic floral touch, while the spices and gardenia bring a subtle complexity and creamy texture to the heart, rounding out the floral composition with a sophisticated elegance.

In the base, Wind Song Breezy settles into a rich, earthy foundation. Galbanum infuses a green, slightly resinous character that deepens the fragrance with its distinctive, fresh, and woody quality. The warm, animalic nuances of Abyssinian ambergris and Tibetan musk add a sensual, lingering depth.

Mysore sandalwood provides a creamy, smooth base that enhances the fragrance's warmth and richness. Benzoin and oakmoss introduce resinous, slightly sweet, and earthy undertones, while East Indian vetiver and patchouli offer a complex, woody and slightly smoky finish. Cedar completes the base with a crisp, dry woodiness, adding a touch of sophistication and grounding the fragrance.

Overall, Wind Song Breezy is a vibrant, modern fragrance that combines the invigorating freshness of green notes with a refined floral heart and a warm, earthy base. It encapsulates a sense of natural beauty and effortless elegance, making it a standout choice for those seeking a refreshing yet sophisticated scent.

Fate of the Fragrance:

Wind Song Breezy, with its invigorating and modern fragrance, was discontinued at an undetermined date. Despite its eventual phase-out, the perfume remained available in the market until at least 1980. This extended availability suggests that Wind Song Breezy continued to capture the appreciation of its audience well beyond its initial launch period. Its fresh green floral composition, which seamlessly blended lively citrus notes with a sophisticated floral heart and a rich, woody base, resonated with many during its time. Although no longer in production, Wind Song Breezy remains a cherished memory for those who experienced its distinctive and refreshing scent.

  1. I absolutely loved Windsong Breezy. I was in highschool, back in the late 70s, and remember the scent so well. It brings back wonderful memories of a very impressionable time of my life. One of my all time favorite perfumes. I received so many compliments on the fragrance. They NEED to bring it back. Why discontinue something that was loved by many!? I would be extremely happy if the perfume made an appearance again and I could buy it once more. Please bring WINDSONG BREEZY back!!!

  2. Please bring Windsong Breezy back. I also loved it in high school and received so many compliments from friends as well as professionals. Remember seeing dentist one time and he called his wife in to tell her how much he liked the scent. It was kind of weird but made me feel good. Not overwhelming scent. Just right.
